German CV (Lebenslauf) with AI, even if you are not from Germany
On cvfix.de you describe your experience in your own language, for example English, Russian, Turkish or Arabic, or upload your existing CV. The AI turns it into a Lebenslauf in the German format and emails it to you within minutes as PDF and Word files. During the beta it is free, with no sign-up and no subscription. The AI only uses what you provide and does not invent anything.
1What a German CV needs
German employers expect a tabular CV: most recent position first, clear dates (MM/YYYY), short bullet points instead of paragraphs, two pages at most. An AI tool for Germany should deliver exactly that, not just translate your text.
- Language levels on the CEFR scale (A1 to C2) and the certificate if you have one. "Good German" tells employers very little.
- Foreign degrees with the country and a short explanation; for regulated professions, the status of recognition (Anerkennung).
- Concrete tasks and results for each position, not just the job title.
- ATS-friendly format: many companies first read applications with software (Applicant Tracking System). A simple structure and standard fonts help make sure nothing gets lost.
- Photo and date of birth are optional. Many applicants in Germany still include them.
2How it works with cvfix
- DescribeWrite in your language what you have done, or upload your CV as PDF, DOCX or TXT. If you have a job ad, add it too.
- CheckIf you write freely, cvfix sorts your details into fields and points out gaps. You see everything again and can correct it.
- ReceiveYou get two versions by email, one for applicant tracking systems (ATS) and a modern one, each as PDF and DOCX. A cover letter (Anschreiben) is optional.
The CV is written in the language of the job ad: German for a German ad, English for an English one. Before sending, a second check compares the result with your input so that nothing is added and nothing is lost.
3Who cvfix is for
cvfix helps most if German is not (yet) your strongest language or you are not sure how to present experience from another country in a German CV. There are tips for specific professions: nursing, IT, skilled trades.
If you prefer to build your CV field by field in an editor, a classic CV builder is a better fit. You can still edit the DOCX file from cvfix in Word or Google Docs at any time.
4What to watch for with AI-written CVs
- Nothing made up. Some AI tools add skills or numbers that sound good. This shows in the interview. Check every line: did you really do this?
- Protected job titles. Titles such as Pflegefachfrau or Meister may only be used after recognition or a German exam. Until then, list your foreign qualification with the country.
- Data protection. A CV contains a lot of personal data. Check how long a service keeps it. At cvfix, your details and files are deleted after 24 hours at the latest.
- General AI chat or a specialised tool. You can write a CV with ChatGPT too, but you need to know what a German CV looks like and build the layout yourself. A specialised tool gives you the format and finished files directly.
- Read it yourself. Even the best draft is a draft. Read it before sending and change whatever does not sound like you.
5Before you send it
- Contact details correct, a professional email address
- All dates as MM/YYYY, gaps briefly explained
- Language levels with CEFR grade
- Degrees with country, recognition status where needed
- File as PDF, file name with your name
Describe your experience in your language.
cvfix turns it into a German CV, free during the beta and without inventing anything.
